Hull City victorious in East Riding County Cup

One more county cup was decided last night when Hull City took on Mill Lane United in the final of the East Riding County Football Association Women’s Cup at the Roy West Centre in Hull.

Hull were strong favourites going into the game, sitting in second place in the WPL Northern Division One and facing a county league side, but Mill Lane are a team you write off at your peril. They ended their season in the East Riding County Women’s Football League with a 100% win record, scoring over 100 goals in the process, so it was clear they would be no pushovers.

In spite of this Hull put in a dominant performance, and may feel slightly disappointed that they only managed to score twice given the number of attempts on goal that they were able to create. They took the lead in the first half lead through a Jo Symington goal, before Katie Thompson wrapped things up after the break by scoring on her birthday.

Final score: Mill Lane United 0-2 Hull City
