Last night saw silverware awarded in the Cornwall, Manchester and Norfolk county FA Cups.
The Cornish final saw Callington Town face Newquay Celtic. both of whom play in the South West Women’s Football League, Western Division. Callington proved to be the stronger team on the night, running out comfortable 4-0 winners.
In the Manchester FA Women’s County Cup Final, FC United of Manchester thumped City of Manchester 5-1, despite playing their league football a division below their opponents. Jade Parker scored a hat-trick for the North West Women’s Regional League, Division One South side, with Kirsty Chambers providing the other two goals. City of Manchester’s only goal was scored by Vicky Lomas.
Last, but not least, Thorpe United took the Norfolk Women’s Cup with a 2-0 victory over Wymondham Town. As with the Manchester final, it was the lower ranked team who won – Thorpe United are currently top of the Norfolk county league, while Wymondham play in Division One of the Eastern Region Women’s Football League. Rebekah Lake gave Thorpe United the lead during the first half, before Vivian Moyo wrapped things up late on in the tie.
